Lost & Found

Please visit the Danville Area Visitors Bureau’s Information Tent at the event. Lost and found will be handled from their tent and will provide follow up after the event.

Rules & Guidelines

Patrons of the Balloons Over Vermilion are asked to be mindful of others and to obey the following rules and guidelines:

  • There is no smoking on the launch field. Balloons use liquid propane as fuel, which is highly flammable.
  • No tailgating tents, ‘pop tents’, or full size tents are allowed on the field or in the parking lot. Small umbrellas and shading devices are acceptable.
  • No unauthorized vehicles are allowed on the field INCLUDING golf-carts.
  • No bikes, skateboards, hoverboards, scooters, rollerskates or the like allowed on the grounds.
  • You must move your items if requested by a Pilot or Balloons Over Vermilion staff for balloon safety and setup.
  • No kites.
  • Please be mindful of balloons and chase vehicles while on the field. Walk at the edges if possible.
  • Patrons are required to comply with all Balloon Pilot and Balloons Over Vermilion event staff requests in regards to balloon operations and safety.
  • Keep clear and do not walk over all theater lines and tie-offs. These are dangerous and can move and shift at moments notice.
  • Please do not touch or walk over balloons while on the field unless you are directed to by the pilot.
  • Tethered rides require a signed waiver of liability; children 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • The Balloons Over Vermilion is a ‘No Drone Zone’. No drones allowed on the airport grounds nor within the flight path of the hot air balloons.

Yes, tethered rides are available for $15 for adults and $10 for kids, both nights, weather permitting!

Balloon Tether Rides

Rides are just $15 for adults and $10 for kids 10 and under.

All riders must read and sign a waiver form. Persons under 17 years old will need an adult to sign.

  • 4 to 8 people at a time (depending on their size) 
  • between 50 and 100 feet in the air.
  • balloon is secured to the ground by heavy vehicles and strong ropes.
  • trip will last about 5 minutes or so, long enough to get a birds-eye view of the festival and experience a little about how a free flight might be. 
  • can also accommodate persons in wheelchairs, or have difficulty standing
  • 3 other people can fly with the wheelchair-bound person. a 
  • Persons with electric wheelchairs will need to be able to transfer to a standard wheelchair (provided).
