Balloons Over Vermilion organizers announced Wednesday they had canceled this year’s hot-air balloon festival due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.
The combined Rossville-Alvin Elementary School fourth-grade classrooms of Tammy Harper and Tia Petersen were selected by Balloons Over Vermilion to be the 2020 host student ambassadors.

Balloons Over Vermilion co-chair Pat O’Shaughnessy announced Friday morning the recipients of six grants totaling $24,700.
“Balloons will be back!” That’s what the organizers of Balloons Over Vermilion are saying after a record year for the festival.
Balloons Over Vermilion would like to thank the over 600 sponsors and volunteers who made the 2019 festival a record-breaking success.
