Through their partnership with the OSF Healthcare Foundation, Balloons Over Vermilion has expanded over the last couple of years from running an annual balloon fest at Vermilion Regional Airport to also running the annual Festival of Trees every November at the David S. Palmer Arena.
The return of Balloons Over Vermilion this year saw a record Friday night crowd.
There will be excitement in the air, literally, in Vermilion County later this week with the return of Balloons Over Vermilion on July 9 and 10 at Vermilion Regional Airport.
Preparations continue for this year’s Balloons Over Vermilion. Last year the event was cancelled because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, but this year it’s back.
The combined Rossville-Alvin Elementary School fourth-grade classrooms of Tammy Harper and Tia Petersen were selected by Balloons Over Vermilion to be the 2020 host student ambassadors.

Balloons Over Vermilion would like to thank the over 600 sponsors and volunteers who made the 2019 festival a record-breaking success.
The organizers of the Balloons Over Vermilion 2019 celebration, which took place at Danville Regional Airport this weekend, took time to honor the contributions of one of the events main benefactors during Friday night’s opening ceremonies.
